Kathmandu, September 24 (HS). The issue of release of Nepali students held hostage during the attack on Israel by Hamas has been raised in the international conference of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. On behalf of Nepal, Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Rana appealed to the world community to provide help in the early release of Nepali students.
An appeal was made for the release of Nepali students held in the custody of Hamas in the meeting of foreign ministers of non-aligned nations held on the occasion of the ongoing United Nations General Assembly in New York. Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Rana, representing Nepal, referring to the incident of killing of 10 Nepali citizens and taking about a dozen Nepali citizens hostage during the attack on Israel by Hamas, said that even today, after about a year, the Nepali students have not been released from the control of Hamas.
Foreign Minister Rana said that all countries are requested to take initiative for the release of Nepali students held by Hamas in whatever way possible. He said that the world community, especially the United Nations, should take special initiative on this in the name of humanity.
Nepal's Foreign Minister said that the UN platform mostly listens to the big and powerful countries but the group of non-aligned nations was formed so that the problems and concerns of small and underdeveloped and strategically less important countries get a place on the world platform. Dr. Rana said that I request the non-aligned nations group to place this problem of Nepal on the platform of the United Nations General Assembly and help us in the release of Nepali students.
Foreign Minister Rana said that 10 promising Nepali students were brutally murdered in the attack on Israel by Hamas last October. He said that the country has still not come out of that shock. If the Nepali students who were under the control of Hamas are released, then that pain can be reduced a little.
