An NRI who went to visit Badrinath temple in Uttarakhand was swept away in the current of Alaknanda river. This person had come to Badrinath Dham with his father from Malaysia. However, SDRF rescued his father. At present, the NRI is being searched.

NRI got stranded in the strong current of Alaknanda river

Chamoli Police of Uttarakhand said that a 40-year-old NRI had come from Malaysia with his father to worship at the Badrinath temple. On Tuesday, he was swept away in the strong current of the Alaknanda river. The accident took place at Gandhi Ghat of Badrinath Dham.

NRI's father was rescued by SDRF team

The NRI's father, identified as Suresh Chandra, was rescued by State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel. He too was pulled by the current of the Alaknanda river. He has been admitted to the nearby Vivekananda Hospital for treatment. Suresh Chandra's NRI son Balraj Sethi is still missing.

This family had come to India from Malaysia for the Char Dham Yatra

According to the information, the father-son duo from Malaysia along with four other members of their family had come to India on 14 September for the Char Dham Yatra. They reached Badrinath Dham on Tuesday to visit the temples. But in the meantime Balraj Sethi drowned in the Alaknanda river.

Two people died in Yamunotri Dham

Two pilgrims returning from Yamunotri Dham in Uttarakhand died due to ill health. On Monday morning, after visiting the Yamunotri temple, a pilgrim fell unconscious near the Jankichatti parking area. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The deceased has been identified as Kailash Chandra Asava, a resident of Bhilwara (Rajasthan).

Earlier on Sunday, another pilgrim's health deteriorated at Janakichatti, after which he was taken to the hospital where the doctor declared him dead. The deceased has been identified as 64-year-old Srinivas Kuchimotla from Andhra Pradesh.
