Ghaziabad, September 20 (HS). A Maulvi has been arrested in Wave City police station area for extorting lakhs of rupees from a civil engineer and trying to convert him to Islam. He is accused of claiming to cure people through exorcism.
DCP SN Tiwari said that a woman filed a report at Wavecity police station on September 19 that Maulvi Abdul wants to convert her husband. He is also pressurizing her to divorce him and is talking about getting him married to a girl from Jharkhand. Her husband is also doing as he says by getting influenced by his words. Police started investigating the whole matter. During this, the police found some audios in which the Maulvi himself is claiming that his religion is superior and that if he converts, all his troubles will go away. Maulvi Abdul Rehman is a resident of Neemkheda, Bulandshahr.

He left the customs of his religion and made up his mind to adopt another religion. The accused had extorted seven lakh rupees from him and was pressurizing him to sell his house. On his insistence, he had agreed to leave her and the children.
