Prayagraj, 18 September (HS). On the death anniversary of socialist leader, hero of Bahujans, former Rajya Sabha MP Babu Shiv Dayal Chaurasia, a seminar was organized at the Samajwadi Party office today to remember him. SP leaders and workers paid homage to him by garlanding his picture and discussed his struggles and said that his thoughts are still relevant today.
MLC Dr Mansingh Yadav said that Babu Shivdayal Chaurasia was a lawyer, revolutionary, social reformer, thinker of the welfare of the backward and exploited people of his time. He fought for the deprived under the guidance of Dr Ambedkar and Kanshiram. During his advocacy, he established Central Legal and Society in 1953 to provide free justice to the weaker sections. During his parliamentary tenure, he paved the way for Lok Adalat by amending the Constitution.
State Secretary Narendra Singh said that he had also submitted a memorandum on behalf of the depressed classes to the Simon Commission regarding the then economic and social status of the backward and deprived society and for giving them rights for their progress. District President Yamunapar Pappulal Nishad, while presiding, said that Babu Shiv Dayal Chaurasia was also a member of the Kaka Kalekar Commission. Influenced by Periyar E V Rama Swamy, he had also organized his programs in Lucknow.
Media in-charge Dan Bahadur Madhur said that Babu Shivdayal Chaurasia struggled throughout his life for the economic, educational, social and political upliftment of the backward classes. During his lifetime, he formed many organizations and organized many big conferences. His thoughts are relevant even today.
