RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday stressed the need to completely eradicate untouchability from the country.
Addressing the RSS meeting at Indira Gandhi Khel Maidan, Bhagwat said that the feeling of untouchability should be completely eradicated. This change has to be brought about by changing the mindset of the society. Social unity is the key to carry forward this change.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat has said that the hatred with which Hindus are looked at today is wrong. Being a Hindu means showing generosity and goodwill towards everyone irrespective of any religious belief, caste or food practices.
A statement by the RSS chief said that the Hindu community is the creator of the country, so its generosity will take the country forward. The RSS chief said that Hinduism is synonymous with universal morality, which focuses on the welfare of all. Bhagwat said, “Being a Hindu means being the most generous person in the world, accepting everyone and showing goodwill towards everyone.”
Such a person uses education to impart knowledge, uses wealth to give charity and uses power to protect the weak. If something wrong happens in the nation, it affects Hindu society as he is a sculptor of the nation. However, if something good happens in the country, it increases the pride of Hindus, Bhagwat said. He explained that what is commonly known as Hinduism is basically a universal human religion.
According to Bhagwat, anyone who lives according to these values and culture can be considered a Hindu, no matter what religion he practices, what language he speaks, whatever his caste, region or food. He said that at one time the Sangh was not widely known but now it is recognised and respected even by those who may oppose it from outside.
Despite objections from some sections, Bhagwat claimed that many people have secretly accepted the importance of the Sangh. Therefore, he stressed the importance of protecting Hindu religion, culture and society to ensure comprehensive national development.
Bhagwat called upon RSS volunteers to adopt and promote five core principles: social harmony, environmental stewardship, family values, self-awareness and civic discipline. He expressed concern over the decline in family values, blaming the misuse of social media for this.
He said the younger generation is fast drifting away from traditional values due to the misuse of social media. Bhagwat stressed the need for families to come together regularly to strengthen their ties and preserve cultural values. He suggested that families should gather together for weekly religious activities and meals.
