Dhaka, September 14 (HS). US government official Brent Niemann arrived in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka this morning. A high-level delegation has also come with him. Brent Niemann was welcomed at the airport in Dhaka by Bangladesh Foreign Ministry's Director General (North America) Khandker Masudul Alam.
Economist Brent Neuman serves as the Acting Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Finance and Development at the US Treasury Department, Dhaka-based Bangla newspaper (English edition) Prothom Alo reported. On the purpose of the visit, Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Mohammad Jashimuddin said Bangladesh is looking forward to multifaceted discussions. This is the first visit of a US delegation after the formation of the interim government led by Chief Advisor Prof. Mohammad Yunus on August 8.
He said the US delegation will meet Chief Advisor Prof. Muhammad Yunus on Sunday morning. The delegation will also meet Foreign Affairs Advisor Mohammad Touhid Hossain and Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. According to Prothom Alo news, a spokesperson of the US State Department said, “US and Bangladeshi officials will discuss how the United States can support Bangladesh's economic growth, financial stability and development needs.”
