The mega auction is going to be held before IPL 2025, but the BCCI has not yet announced the retention policy. In such a situation, the big question is whether Mahendra Singh Dhoni will play the next season of IPL or not. Earlier a report had come out that Dhoni will play in the next season only when the BCCI's rule of retaining five to six players will be implemented. But now a big news has come out about Mahendra Singh Dhoni from Chennai Super Kings.
Will retain MS Dhoni at all costs
According to a report, MS Dhoni's decision to play in IPL 2025 will not depend on the retention policy. Earlier, it was reported that CSK and Dhoni will decide on his future when the BCCI announces the retention policy for the IPL 2025 mega auction. But now CSK officials also say that if Dhoni decides to play in the next season, he will be one of their retentions even though the BCCI allows only two retentions.
When will the retention policy be announced?
According to a report, it will take some more time for the retention rules to be released. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may postpone the announcement till the end of September. All eyes are on the BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held in Bengaluru on September 29. It is believed that the delay was informed by BCCI officials to the franchises, who had recently approached them regarding the retention rules.
This rule can be applied again
On the other hand, news has also come out that players who have retired from international cricket can be included in the list of uncapped players. Actually, earlier there was a rule in IPL that if a player retires from international cricket for 5 or more years, then he was considered an uncapped player. This rule was abolished after 2021, but it is believed that this rule can be implemented once again.
