Amid the war going on in Gaza for more than 11 months, the US has approved a deal to sell weapons to Israel. The US State Department said that it will give weapons worth $164 million to Israel. Earlier in August, the sale of weapons worth $20 billion, including F-15 fighter jets, has been approved.
America stands firmly with Israel amidst the Hamas-Israel war. Despite heavy opposition around the world, Israel continues to receive military aid from America. In the ongoing war in Gaza, America has approved an arms deal worth $165 million i.e. about Rs 1384 crore to Israel. However, Israel will get the delivery of e-weapons by the year 2027.
The US State Department announced on Thursday that the US has approved a $165 million arms deal for heavy-duty tank trailers for Israel. This will include tool kits, spare parts and repair parts along with technical and logistical support. However, these weapons are unlikely to be delivered before the year 2027.
Gaza and Israel are big issues in US elections
The Biden administration has approved this deal at a time when less than two months are left for the presidential election. Apart from this, the issue of Israel was also much discussed in the presidential debate held on Tuesday. Donald Trump has alleged that if Kamala Harris wins the election, Israel will be decriminalized in two years. Trump accused Harris of hating Israel.
America will also provide F-15 fighter planes to Israel
Earlier also, America had approved a weapons deal worth $20 billion for Israel. Under this deal, America will also provide Israel with F-15 fighter planes. According to reports, Israel will get all these weapons only after a few years, so there will be no increase in Israel's military capabilities and it will also have no effect on the 11-month-long war against Hamas.
On one hand, the Biden administration is showing commitment to Israel, while on the other hand it is facing criticism over the deaths in Gaza. Many American advocates and the public have called for ending military support for Israel. Therefore, to create a balance, the US has stopped the delivery of 2,000 pound bombs to Israel.
