The Ireland team has to play a T20 series against South Africa from 27 September. After this series, an ODI series will be played between the two teams. The Irish Cricket Board has announced the team for both these series. Ireland's Test captain Andy Balbirnie has not got a place in the team for the T20 series. His performance has not been anything special in the last one year. In his absence, Lorcan Tucker can start the innings with Paul Stirling.
I want to improve the top order in T20: Selector
Regarding the team, Ireland's chief selector Andrew White said that on this tour our focus is on our top order in T20. We are trying to do something new, that is why we have removed Andrew Balbirnie. Even though this series is of only two matches, we want to do something new. 'Andrew Balbirnie has got a place in the team for the ODI series. He will open the innings with Paul Stirling. Let us tell you that Andrew Balbirnie has played 110 T20 matches so far, in which he has scored 2392 runs at an average of 24.83.
