MOSCOW: Russian President Putin has openly warned the US not to try to push Russia out of Asia as the country begins its biggest naval exercise since the Soviet Union.
The massive Ocean-2024 war exercise involving Chinese warships is to stretch from the Mediterranean to the Pacific Ocean. It will test the warships' combat capability and readiness as well as state-of-the-art weapons.
In this regard, President Putin in his address to the chiefs of defence forces said that, based on the lessons learned in the Ukraine-war, Russia also wants to overcome the shortcomings of special military operations and is going to start combat exercises with our friendly countries.
Some observers believe that Russia may involve North Korea and possibly Iran in this exercise. Thus the possibility of gradual formation of axis-states cannot be ruled out.
President Putin further said in his address to the military chiefs that this (war exercise) holds special importance amidst the growing geopolitical tensions in the world today. We can see that America wants to maintain its global and political dominance at any cost.
This naval war exercise with China will continue till September 16.
Russian Navy Commander Admiral Alexander told President Putin that the exercise would involve about 90,000 servicemen, over 400 warships, 125 aircraft and about 7,500 units of modern weapons.
