Lucknow, September 11 (HS). A family living in Chinhat police station area is performing puja by placing a Ganesh idol outside the house on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. On Tuesday evening, when the aarti was being performed, some people from another community tried to break the Ganesh idol. They threw stones and broke the urn kept near the idol, due to which the puja was disrupted. The family is very hurt by this incident. They have complained to the police for action against the culprits in this matter.
Deputy Commissioner of Police East said on Wednesday that Kiran Chaurasia, who lives near the Choti Masjid in Ganga Vihar Colony, Chinhat, has given a written complaint. In this, she said that like every year, this year too, Ganesh idol is being installed at home and puja is being performed on Ganesh Chaturthi. But people of other communities living in the locality bring Islamic flags and raise provocative slogans during the aarti. They leave after threatening, which causes disruption in their puja.
He told that on Tuesday evening, like every day, his daughter was performing aarti with the neighbouring girls. Meanwhile, people from another community came and with the intention of breaking the idol, the stone thrown by them hit the urn and broke. This disrupted their worship. Their religious sentiments have been hurt by this act of the youth. The victim woman has complained to the police for action against the culprits. Taking cognizance of the matter, the police have registered a case and started further action.
