Prayagraj, 11 September (HS). Malnutrition is a problem of the whole world, where under-nutrition affects the weight and height of a person according to age. On the other hand, over-nutrition can lead to obesity, overweight and diet-related non-communicable diseases. That is why our diet should be balanced. Under this, the National Nutrition Month has become a nationwide celebration and is taking the form of a mass movement.
The above things were said by the chief guest, Phaphamau MLA Guru Prasad Maurya, during the public awareness program organized at Bioved Agricultural and Technology Research Institute, Moharb, Shringaverpur on Wednesday during the “7th National Nutrition Month” organized by the Central Communication Bureau of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, in collaboration with the Department of Child Development Services and Nutrition and Health.
He said the government is committed to tackle the problem of malnutrition among children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers. The month-long campaign aims to further accelerate efforts to combat malnutrition and promote holistic health across the country.
During the program, the chief guest also planted a tree under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign. All the Anganwadi workers, chief maids, CDPOs, medical officers and other people present in the program created awareness about nutrition by forming a human chain. During this, the chief guest performed the baby shower ceremony of 5 pregnant women and the Annaprashan ceremony of 5 children.
Addressing the program, Medical Officer-in-Charge Kaudihar Dr. Anurag Tiwari said that National Nutrition Month is developing as a nationwide campaign. Through this, continuous efforts are being made to provide nutrition to children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers across the country. Child Development Project Officer Kaudihar Surendra Singh Yadav threw light on topics like anemia, growth monitoring, supplementary diet along with mother's milk to the child from 7 months, etc. of National Nutrition Month.
Dr. VK Dwivedi, Director of Bioved Agricultural and Technology Research Institute, said that coarse grains grown in the country are in demand all over the world today. Addressing the women, he said that special attention should be paid to the diet and education of daughters.
The program and quiz were conducted by the bureau's program in-charge Ram Murat Vishwakarma. During this, a competition was organized and a total of 20 winning participants were awarded certificates by the MLA. The department's registered Harvind Yadav folk song party and magician Yogendra gave informative information along with entertainment. During the program, a health camp was set up under the supervision of medical officer Dr. Sushma Yadav and an ICDS stall was set up under the supervision of CDPO.
In the program, Bureau's regional publicity assistant Balmukund Singh, ICDS's Amit Kumar Sharma, Arun Kumar Jaiswal, chief worker Shobha Devi, Pooja, Gayatri Shukla, Meenakshi, Kusum and Rocket Learning Institute's representative Shubhangi Shukla, Institute's principal Dr. Himanshu Dwivedi, Dr. Vipin Sahu, Dr. Shravan Kumar, Dr. Ankit Shukla, Dr. S.S. Yadav along with a large number of Anganwadi workers were present.
