BRICS literary conference begins in Kazan, Russia | News India

Kazan, September 11 (HS). The BRICS Literature Festival-2024 started in the Russian city of Kazan on Wednesday. The conference was officially inaugurated by Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin. India is being represented by Sahitya Akademi President Madhav Kaushik and Secretary Dr. K. Srinivas Rao in this event which will run till September 14.

Dr. Srinivas Rao told media persons that the theme of the BRICS Literature Festival-2024 is – “World Literature in the New Reality: Dialogue of Traditions, National Values ​​and Cultures.” This conference is a confluence of writers, poets, philosophers, artists and scholars of the BRICS countries. At the ceremony, Madhav Kaushik highlighted the importance of literature in today's world and said how literature promotes unity and cooperation among different societies across the world.

Another program titled “Meet the Writers of India” was also organized at the festival. Its theme was- From Volga to Ganga: A Celebration of Tradition and Multiculturalism. It was moderated by Evgeny Abdullaev. In this session, Dr. Srinivas Rao spoke about how river-based cultures around the world promoted multiculturalism and how multiculturalism helps in establishing social progress and unity. Madhav Kaushik highlighted the traditional literature of India and Russia. He explained how they contain many cultural values.
