Prayagraj, 11 September (HS). Prof. SM Prasad of the Botany Department of Allahabad University has received the Emeritus Scientist Research Project from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Under this project, Prof. SM Prasad has received a grant of Rs 40 lakh. Now Prof. SM Prasad will research on the method of eliminating the poison spreading in vegetables by spraying pesticides.
Prof. SM Prasad said on Wednesday that farmers nowadays spray pesticides in large quantities to kill insects. In such a situation, vegetables also get affected by these pesticides. These pesticides are becoming a serious threat to human health. In such a situation, there is a need to do research to eliminate their effect. Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has provided research grant to work in the field of reducing the effect of pesticides on vegetables.
He said that after entering the vegetables, pesticides easily enter the food chain. Which can pose a big threat to human health. However, the effect of pesticides can be reduced by using gamma aminobutyric acid and nitric oxide. Under this research project, farmers as well as common people across India will benefit from the side effects of pesticides.
