Rahul Gandhi, who is on a three-day US tour, has made a big statement. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi directly questioned the fairness of the Lok Sabha elections. Rahul Gandhi said that these things suddenly started coming together. I don't think BJP was close to 246 in a fair election. He also said that he does not hate PM Modi, sometimes he sympathizes with Modi. Apart from this, he has also made a big statement on reservation.
Rahul said that I don't think that in a fair election, BJP was even close to 246. The Congress leader said that before the election, we kept insisting that the institutions have been captured, we did not have equal opportunities. They got huge economic benefits. They closed our bank accounts. The Election Commission was doing what it wanted. Rahul Gandhi said that these things suddenly started coming together. The entire campaign was designed in such a way that Narendra Modi could do his work in the whole country. The states where he was weak were designed differently from the states where he was strong.
Capture of institutions before elections
Rahul Gandhi said that before the elections, we kept emphasizing the idea that institutions have been captured. The RSS has captured the education system. The media and investigative agencies have been captured. We kept saying but people did not understand. I started putting the Constitution in front and whatever I had said suddenly broke down… poor India, suffering India, which realized that if the Constitution is destroyed, the whole game will be destroyed. Poor people understood deeply that the fight was between those who protect the Constitution and those who destroy it. The issue of caste census also dominated. These things suddenly started coming together.
I don't hate Modi
Rahul said in Washington that I do not hate Narendra Modi. I do not agree with him but I do not hate him either, on many occasions I even sympathize with him. He said that we are confident that we will fight the elections against BJP and we will win this election in the next two or three months.
People's fear went away after the elections
Earlier, speaking at an event of the Indian Overseas Congress in Virginia, Rahul said that all our bank accounts were sealed three months before the elections. We were discussing what to do now. I said we will see what happens next. The Congress leader said that everything has changed after the elections. Some people said that now there is no fear, now the fear is over. It is interesting to me that the BJP and Prime Minister Modi spread so much fear that the pressure of agencies on small traders, all disappeared in a second. It took them many years to spread this fear and this fear disappeared in a moment.
Rahul further said that I see PM Modi in Parliament and I can show you that the idea of Mr Modi, 56-inch chest, direct connection with God is all over now, it is all history.
Politics has changed
The former president of the country's oldest political party said, I think politics in India has fundamentally changed. From our point of view, we see that some people will agree and some will disagree. We do not agree with Modi's vision, we fight against him. For us, we are trying to lay the foundation of a new vision for our country. The Congress party has done this from time to time.
Statement on reservations
While addressing the students at Washington's prestigious Georgetown University, Rahul Gandhi also made a big statement on reservation. When the students asked Rahul about reservation that how long will reservation continue, he said that if there is fairness in the reservation system in India, then the Congress party will think about ending reservation and that is not the case right now.
Rahul Gandhi said that when there is fairness in India (in terms of reservation), then we will think about ending reservation. India is still not a fair place for it. Rahul said that when you look at the financial figures, tribals get 10 paise out of Rs 100. Dalits get Rs 5 out of Rs 100 and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) get almost the same amount. The truth is that they are not getting the right partnership.
Rahul said that the problem is that 90 percent of India's population is not able to participate. Look at the list of every business leader in India. I have done the same. Show me the name of the tribal. Show me the name of the Dalit. Show me the OBC. I think one of the top 200 is an OBC. They are 50 percent of India's population. But our disease is not getting cured. He said that this is the problem. Now this (reservation) is not the only tool, there are other tools as well.
Rahul said that there are many people who come from upper castes. Who says look what mistake we did? Why are we being punished? Then you think about dramatically increasing the supply of some of those things. You think about decentralization of power. You think about involving many other people in the governance of our country. I will say with all due respect that I don't think any of you is ever going to become Adani or Ambani. There is only one reason for this. You cannot become because the doors are closed for that. So the answer of the general castes is that you open these doors.
