Ganesh Chaturthi 2024 Rules: The festival of Lord Ganesha, the most prominently worshipped deity in Hinduism, is celebrated with great pomp across the country. The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi also holds special significance for the worship of Bappa. According to the Hindu calendar, it is celebrated every year on the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month.
On this auspicious occasion, devotees install the idol of Lord Ganesha in their homes and the celebration continues for several days. Some people install the idol of Ganesha on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi and keep it for 5 or 7 days and then immerse it ritually on the last day. At the same time, some people are worried about how long the Ganpati Maharaj installed during Ganesh Chaturthi should be kept in the house. In such a situation, let us know about this in detail from Astrologer Pandit Arvind Tripathi.
For how many days should we keep Bappa's idol in our house?
According to the Hindu calendar, this year Ganeshotsav is starting from Saturday, 7 September 2024. During this time, almost all people install Ganesha in their homes and worship him. Actually, there is a rule to keep Lord Ganesha in the house for 10 days. On the last day, he is immersed in a river, lake or pond, but according to faith, devotion and ability, people can also bid farewell to Lord Ganesha by keeping him at home for 1, 3, 5 or 7 days. However, most devotees bid farewell to Bappa by immersing the idol of Ganesha after worshiping with rituals on the day of Anant Chaturdashi.
Keep these things in mind before bringing Bappa home
While bringing the idol home on Ganesh Chaturthi, keep in mind that the trunk of Lord Ganesha should be tilted towards the left. According to the scriptures, such an idol of Ganapati is considered very auspicious.
Try to bring a sitting idol of Lord Ganesha in the house. This will ensure happiness and prosperity in the house.
Also take special care that the idol of Bappa should have blessings in one hand and modak in the other hand.
