The GST Council chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has given a great news to religious pilgrims in a meeting held on Monday. It has been decided in the meeting that now Chardham pilgrims will have to pay 5% GST instead of 18% for taking helicopter service. Uttarakhand Finance Minister Premchand Agarwal has given this information.
Tourism will increase in hilly states like Uttarakhand
According to Uttarakhand Finance Minister Premchand Agarwal, this demand was made by him. The GST Council has approved it today. This will greatly benefit hilly states like Uttarakhand. Religious tourism will also increase. He said that the elderly are facing a lot of difficulties in reaching remote areas like Kedarnath and Badrinath. Helicopter service was started for this facility. Till now 18 percent GST was levied on it. However, now with GST being only five percent, helicopter passengers will have to pay less.
