Adani warns Bangladesh: Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani has given $500 million i.e. about crores of rupees to the new interim government of Bangladesh. He has been asked to pay the outstanding amount of Rs 4200 crore. After the Bangladesh dispute, the Indian government has also saved Adani by changing some rules related to energy.
Let us tell you that Adani Power supplies electricity to Bangladesh. Electricity is supplied to Bangladesh from Gonda Power Plant in Jharkhand. The Bangladesh government has not made payments to power companies since the violence. This amount has increased to more than Rs 4200 crore and is continuously increasing.
The company said that talks are going on with Bangladesh regarding the payment. Adani Power asked the government to make this payment as power supply to Bangladesh may be affected. However, Adani Group has said that it will continue to supply electricity to Bangladesh despite the increasing financial stress.
Bangladesh government is not making the payment –
Sheikh Hasina had to leave the country after violence broke out in Bangladesh. After this, a new interim government was formed in Bangladesh under the leadership of Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, but the new government delayed the payment of electricity. According to the Financial Times, the Bangladesh government is struggling. At the same time, Mohammad Yunus has described the agreements made during the time of Sheikh Hasina as costly.
Bangladesh government's chief energy adviser Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan has also admitted that the Adani Group owes it about $800 million. The government, facing a funding crisis, is seeking help from global financial backers, including the World Bank, to stabilize the economy.
