Stock Market Closing: After closing with a fall of 1000 points on Friday, the Sensex opened with a fall on Monday. Due to the fall, the Nifty was also trading in a flat range. However, the market gained momentum in the afternoon trading session and eventually the Sensex and Nifty closed with a gain.
The Sensex closed 375.61 points higher at 81559.54 and the Nifty closed 84.25 points higher at 24936.40. Out of the total 4181 stocks traded on the BSE, 1650 closed with gains and 2390 closed with losses, of which 372 stocks hit upper circuit and 307 stocks hit lower circuit. The Sensex pack also had a 50-50 per cent rise-fall ratio.

25000-25100 level is important for Nifty
The market witnessed a mixed trend as global eyes were on the US Fed Reserve. After trading bearish in the early session, Nifty finally managed to recover some of its losses. Technically, Nifty is still below 25100. The 25000-25100 range is a very important resistance level in the next short term. Support level is given at 24800-24785. Rupak Dey, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities, has predicted a major correction in the market if the selling increases.
