The water level of Gandak Barrage in Valmiki Nagar continues to rise | News India


West Champaran (Bagaha), 6 September (HS). The water level of Gandak has started rising once again due to heavy rains in the Indian and Nepali water acquisition areas for the last two days. 1 lakh 94 thousand cusecs of water has been released from the historic Gandak Barrage located in Valmiki Nagar till Friday afternoon. There is an increased risk of havoc due to the water released from the Gandak Barrage in the rural areas along the banks of the Gandak river such as Chakdahva, Jhandu Tola, Bintoli, Kanhi Tola, Sirla Diyara, Dhanhiya Diyara etc.

Executive Engineer of Gandak Barrage Siyaram Paswan told that due to the rain in Nepali and Indian region, the water level of Gandak Barrage has started rising once again. All the gates of Gandak Barrage have been partially opened for safety reasons. All the personnel of Gandak Barrage have been put on alert. Due to the rising water level of Gandak river, the possibility of water entering the forest area has increased once again. It should be known that due to the continuous heavy rain in the hilly and Terai regions of the neighboring country Nepal, the water level of Gandak River has started rising.
