If the transformer burns due to overload, take action against the junior engineer and lineman: Priyanka Niranjan | News India

Mirzapur, 6 September (HS). Taking cognizance of the complaints of electric transformers burning and getting damaged again after repair, District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan reached the electric transformer workshop at Patharhiya on Friday and conducted a surprise inspection of the working system. Directing the Executive Engineer and Chief Engineer, she said that overloading and illegal connections should be investigated in the area from where more complaints of transformer burning are being received. If transformers burn due to overloading, then take strict action against the junior engineer and lineman of the concerned area.

On information of faulty transformers, the District Magistrate examined the date wise register and obtained detailed information about the repair of transformers and availability of additional transformers. Executive Engineer Workshop informed that complaints of burning of many transformers have been received in Deepnagar, Madihan and Halia areas. After the demand of transformers, 97 transformers of different load capacities have been received by the department. While 150 new transformers are still required.

The District Magistrate said that while providing date-wise information about transformer failures received from the entire district in the last two months, it should also be mentioned that due to which reasons the transformers have burnt or got damaged. It should also be informed that on which date in the last two months, information about which transformer getting damaged was received and on which date it was entered in the store for repair and on which date it was taken out from here after repair.

Detailed area wise information should be made available in a format.

He directed that the transformer whose breakdown is reported and entered in the store first, should be installed first in sequence by making a roster. He said that where transformers are getting damaged due to more connections, the capacity should be enhanced there. The number of 23 workers engaged in transformer repair in the store should be increased further. During the inspection, the district magistrate also obtained information about the method of transformer repair etc. During this, the Chief Engineer of Electricity Department and Executive Engineer Workshop were present.
