Petrol Price Hike: There has been no significant change in the price of petrol and diesel in the country for a long time. There were many reasons for the increase in petrol prices in the country over the last three decades. This includes many types of taxes. The share of tax in the retail price of petrol in India is about Rs 55. Both the central and state governments impose taxes on petrol. Compared to India, petrol prices in the US have barely tripled since 1990.
