Chennai-Brunei MoU for cooperation in aviation, security, space | News India


Prime Minister Narendra Modi has gone on a diplomatic visit to Brunei. Here both the countries agreed to increase mutual cooperation in direct aviation, security, space, people-to-people relations and maritime sector and signed agreements. Under which direct flight service will be started between Brunei's capital Bandar Seri Begawan and Chennai, India.

These agreements between the two countries during PM Modi's visit are expected to strengthen bilateral relations in the future. PM Modi and Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei met on Wednesday. Many important issues related to bilateral relations were discussed in the meeting. Both the leaders welcomed the start of direct flight service between Bandar Seri Begawan and Chennai. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between India and Brunei. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Brunei's Minister of Transport and Information Communications Pangiran Dato Shamhari Pangiran Dato Mustafa signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the operation of telemetry, tracking and telecom command stations for satellites and launch vehicles. PM Modi and the Sultan of Brunei were present during this MoU. PM Modi and the Sultan of Brunei agreed on the urgent need to increase efforts to reduce the adverse effects of climate change challenges in line with international climate objectives such as the Paris Agreement. The two leaders agreed to explore and advance cooperation in areas such as ICT, fintech, cyber security, new and emerging technologies and renewable energy.
