After this increase, the dearness allowance given to central employees has now increased to 50 percent. Apart from this, the government has also updated HRA. Apart from this, many allowances given to the employees have also increased.
The employee will get the benefit of allowance on 31st March. This allowance will be applicable from January 2024. This means that now two months' allowances will also be included in the employee's salary.
The government has increased dearness allowance by 4 percent, after which it has become 50 percent. After the increase in DA, HRA has increased by 3,2,1 percent. Apart from this, the government has also increased the other allowances.
these allowances increased
Apart from DA, the central government has also increased these allowances.
- House Rent Allowance (HRA)
- Child Education Allowance (CAA)
- Childcare special allowance
- hostel subsidy
- TA on transfer
- gratuity limit
- dress allowance
- Mileage allowance for own transport
- daily allowance
What is DA calculation?
In the year 2017, the government had implemented the 7th Pay Commission. In 2016, DA was reduced to zero. Actually, whenever DA reaches 50 percent it is reduced to zero.
The amount received in 50 percent DA gets merged into the basic salary of the employee.
Understand it this way, the basic salary of an employee is Rs 18,000 and he will get Rs 9,000 as DA. Now as soon as DA becomes 50 percent of the basic salary, it is merged into the basic salary. This means that the basic salary of the employee will be revised to Rs 27,000.
When will dearness allowance be merged?
The government calculates DA twice a year. DA has been increased for the first time in January and for the second time in July. Approval was given in March for January 2024. Now there will be amendment in DA in July 2024.
Let us tell you that DA is merged into the basic salary only when the DA is 50 percent. This time the government has increased DA by 4 percent to 50 percent.
Now from January to June 2024, dearness allowance will be calculated from AICPI index. After this, 50 percent dearness allowance will be added to the basic salary of the employee.
