600 employees will be affected by the merger of Air India and Vistara, know when the merger process will start


The merger of Air India and Vistara is expected to affect about 600 employees of both the airlines. However, efforts will be made to employ them in other units of Tata Group and Air India Group. Sources gave this information. Both these loss-making airlines are owned by Tata Group. Their total number of employees is more than 23,000. Tata Group is working on a plan to merge its airlines to streamline its aviation business.

Sources close to the merger plan told PTI-Bhasha that the merger may affect about 600 employees of Air India and Vistara. These employees are engaged in work related to non-aviation activities. Sources said that efforts will be made to provide jobs to these employees affected by the merger process in Air India as well as other companies of the Tata Group. Voluntary separation scheme packages will be offered to employees who cannot be accommodated in any group.

When will the merger process begin?

According to sources, the merger process is expected to be completed by the end of September or early October. The exact number of affected employees will be known only after this process is completed. There has been no response from Air India in this regard. Efforts to implement the merger process have been going on for the last few months. Meanwhile, the employees of the airlines are being selected on the basis of their previous experience, performance and other factors. However, sources clarified that the merger process will not affect the crew members and pilots of both the airlines.
