  • Ineligible person: Farmers who do not meet the criteria of the scheme (such as those whose land is not cultivable or is not in their name).
  • Income Tax Payer: Those people who pay income tax, because according to the rules such people cannot get the benefit of this scheme.
  • Government employee or retired employee: People whose family member is in a government job or is retired are also not eligible for this scheme.
  • Deceased person: Farmers who have died, but installments were still being issued in their names.
  • Data error: There may be some cases where there is an error in the data related to name, Aadhaar or bank account, which has raised suspicion.

The Central Government is now doing thorough verification of all these 31 lakh suspected beneficiaries. States have been instructed to examine this list closely and ensure that only eligible farmers get the benefits of the scheme. The purpose of this action is to bring transparency in the scheme and ensure that taxpayers’ money reaches the rightful recipients. If any of these beneficiaries is found ineligible, recovery can also be made from them.
