Kanpur, 18 September (HS). Amidst above normal temperatures coupled with bright sunshine, wind directions changed on Monday, resulting in 23.6 mm rainfall. The temperature dropped due to rain but the humid heat continued. The Meteorological Department says that there are chances of rain for four days.
Dr. SN Sunil Pandey, meteorologist of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agricultural Technology, said on Monday that the low pressure area is now over south-east Rajasthan and surrounding areas. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. It is likely to move in a south-westerly direction over South-West Rajasthan during the next two days.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level runs from Jaisalmer, the center of the low pressure area over southeast Rajasthan, to Sagar, Pendra Road, Jharsuguda, Balasore and then to southeast Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic circulation lies over east central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal. Due to this, most of the districts of Uttar Pradesh including Kanpur have received light to moderate rain.
He said that the maximum temperature was recorded at 33.6 and the minimum temperature was 22.8 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity in the morning was 95 percent and the relative humidity in the afternoon was 65 percent. The direction of the winds was north-east with an average speed of 3.7 km per hour and 23.6 mm rainfall was recorded in Kanpur. According to the weather forecast, there is a possibility of light to moderate cloudy sky in the next five days with light rain between 18-22 September.
