During the festival in the temple, there was chaos due to electric current. The incident happened during a temple festival in Thanjavur on Wednesday morning.

According to the information received, the main cause of the accident has come to light due to the chariot of the procession getting stuck in the electric wire. 11 people died on the spot in the collision of the chariot with the electric wire. During the procession, the chariot came in contact with the high tension wire passing over it, after which the current spread throughout the chariot and caught fire. More than 15 people were injured in the accident.

During the Rath Yatra, when the devotees were passing through the road, then an electric wire passing over them somehow fell on the chariot and the electric current spread in all four directions. It is learned that many people were injured and burnt in the accident. Top officials reached the spot and carried out relief work.

The IG of the area informed about the tragedy that happened during the temple festival. Balakrishna told that so far 10 people have died and 15 have been injured in the accident. He said that during the procession the chariot came in contact with an electric wire, following which an accident took place. It is noteworthy that this year the 94th festival of Thanjavur temple was being celebrated in Tamil Nadu. A large number of devotees from different parts of the country along with the local people come here to participate in this festival of Thanjavur temple.
