Congress, which is facing internal division after the assembly elections in five states, has sacked former Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Sunil Jakhar and KV Thomas. Congress President Sonia Gandhi took this decision following the recommendation of KV Thomas and Sunil Jakhar of the party’s disciplinary committee. After the disciplinary committee report, Sonia Gandhi removed KV Thomas from the state’s political affairs committee and KPCC executive committee. It is worth mentioning that Sunil Jakhar had condemned the decision of former Punjab Congress Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi to reveal the CM’s face. Jakhar said that a Congress leader has described Charanjit Singh Channi as the property of the party.
“Dhan, what a joke, it’s good that Channi hasn’t been declared a national treasure,” he tweeted. On one hand, Congress has removed these two leaders from all party posts and on the other hand some big decisions have been taken in Himachal Pradesh. Virbhadra Singh has been appointed as the President of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee. Mukesh Agnihotri and Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu have been appointed as the chairman of CLP and campaign committee respectively. The All India Congress Committee had on April 11 issued a show cause notice to senior party leader and Congress Committee member KV Thomas on the issue.
