Kohli-Shashtri-1024x576In the current season of IPL-2022, the bat of former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli is silent. His poor form continues and he has managed to score only 128 runs in 9 matches at an average of 16. Meanwhile, the team’s head coach Ravi Shastri has said that Kohli should take a break from the current IPL season and retire. Shastri said that Virat has been playing cricket continuously for a long time and he was also captaining.

Virat Kohli is the highest run scorer in IPL. He has 5 centuries and 42 half-centuries to his name but in the current season he is going through a very poor form. Virat had also left the captaincy before the start of the season and now he is playing under the leadership of Faf du Plessis. Meanwhile, former head coach of Team India Ravi Shastri has suggested him.

Shastri said on Jatin Sapru’s YouTube channel, “I think taking a break is ideal for him because he has played non-stop cricket. He has led the team in all formats. Break Lowe would be wise for that. You know that sometimes you have to strike a balance. If you want to prolong your international career and leave your mark for next 6-7 years, then get out of IPL.

Shastri further said that he would give this advice not only to Kohli but also to any other batsman struggling in this manner. ‘You have been playing for 14-15 years. I will tell this not only to Virat but to any other player. If you want to play longer and do well for India, you have to draw that line.

“India is not just playing IPL,” he said. Sometimes you need to do that or tell the franchise that I will only play half. It’s easy to pay me only half. Such tough decisions need to be taken if you want to reach the top as an international player.
