Pune, April 27 (H.S.). Virat Kohli’s form for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 remains a cause of concern but Kohli was backed by RCB captain Faf du Plessis. Faf defended Kohli, saying that great players go through such phases.
Chasing a target of 145, Bengaluru’s top-order failed again as they lost four wickets for 58 runs and could not recover from it. Regarding Kohli’s poor form, the RCB captain said that great players go through such things at some point or the other and he is with Kohli to change these things.
Coming out to open the innings, Kohli was dismissed after scoring just 9 runs while trying a pull shot. In this season, he has been able to score only 128 runs in 9 matches.
Faf du Plessis said after the match, “We will have to try and change the batting order and see if it works. We have to try and play positive. That’s what we discussed after the last match. [कोहली] Tried to get the best. Great players go through such phases. We wanted him to come straight in so that he doesn’t sit on the sidelines and think about the game. He is a great player and we still support him and hope he plays with confidence in the upcoming matches.”
Du Plessis admitted that his top-order batsmen lack consistency and his team will have to address the issue soon.
“It’s pretty much similar to the last match we played, it’s got a little inconsistent bounce. We gave 20 more runs and we lost 25 runs because of a dropped catch. 140 was a par score on that pitch. this is what we need to fix [शीर्ष क्रम की बल्लेबाजी], The basics of the game do not change. You need someone in the top four to bat through and we haven’t done that.”
Kuldeep Sen’s four-wicket haul and Riyan Parag’s unbeaten 56 helped Rajasthan Royals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 29 runs at the MCA Stadium here on Tuesday. Apart from Kuldeep, Ravichandran Ashwin took three and famous Krishna took two wickets.
