Burma : A Myanmar court has sentenced Aung San Suu Kyi to life imprisonment for corruption. The court found Aung San Suu Kyi guilty in the case. The court sentenced him to five years. A source close to his trial said Aung San Suu Kyi was arrested by the military in February 2021. He was accused of winning the country’s by-elections by rigging.

Actually 76-year-old Aung San Suu Kyi is facing many charges. During his detention, Aung San Suu Kyi was charged with several crimes. In a letter sent by his party to international organizations, he accused the military government of pressurizing it not to recognize it.

Aung San Suu Kyi was sentenced to four years in prison in January 2022 for illegally importing and possessing walkie-talkies and violating coronavirus restrictions. In addition, Aung San Suu Kyi is accused of taking 11.4 kg of gold and a total of $600,000 in cash from former Yangon chief minister Phu Minh Thein. in which he has been sentenced. There are currently at least 10 other corruption cases pending against Aung San Suu Kyi, each carrying a maximum sentence of 15 years.

The trial against Myanmar’s deposed leader Aung San Suu Kyi will begin on February 14. Following a military coup, in February 2021, the military arrested Aung San Suu Kyi on charges of electoral fraud. He has already served sentence in several cases. At the same time, 1,500 civilians have been killed in Myanmar for opposing the dictatorship. Dozens of cases are still pending against Aung San Suu Kyi and could face up to 100 years in prison if convicted.
