New Delhi: Former Aam Aadmi Party leader and poet Kumar Vishwas has filed an application in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking quashing of the FIR registered against him. The Punjab Police had registered a case against him in Rupnagar on April 12. Police had registered a case against Narinder Singh for creating enmity on grounds of religion and ethnicity.

Kumar Vishwas has said in his application that an FIR has been registered against him for political purpose and revenge. It has been said in the application that an attempt has been made to violate the fundamental rights of the petitioner through FIR and other action. Their freedom of expression is under attack. The way the investigation mechanism is working is illegal.

Kumar Vishwas has been accused of making inflammatory speeches against Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and making objectionable remarks in interviews. It is also being said that he had contact with anti-social elements. He is also accused of creating a racial rift with his statements made during the Punjab Assembly elections.

Kumar Vishwas has claimed that Aam Aadmi Party leaders are registering such cases to harass your opponents after forming a majority government in Punjab. The petition mentions the FIR registered against BJP leader Naveen Kumar, Delhi BJP media in-charge Preeti Gandhi and BJP Mahila Morcha in-charge Tejinder Pal Singh Bagga.
