Fatehpur, 26 April (H.S.). On Tuesday, Narcotics Control Bureau Lucknow (NCB) and district police arrested a smuggler with 80 bags of ganja being taken for smuggling in a truck. The NCB has handed over the truck laden with ganja to the Bakewar police station along with the smuggler. The police have started action by registering a case in the matter. The value of the seized ganja is said to be around Rs 5 crore in the international market.

Last night, the team of NCB Lucknow informed the local police about a smuggler carrying a consignment of ganja in a truck in Bakewar police station area. On this, the joint team of Bakewar police station and NCB Lucknow started checking by making a blockade near Shahjahanpur village located on Mughalchak road in the police station area. Shortly after, a speeding truck appeared. After stopping which the police searched, 24 quintals of ganja was found in 80 sacks of jute in the truck. The caught ganja smuggler Ramsagar told the police team about taking the ganja from Orissa to Rajasthan during interrogation.

Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar said that advance action is being taken against the accused by registering a case under sections of the Narcotics Drugs Act.
