New Delhi : Delhi BJP will launch a 45-day physical verification drive from May 1 to trace the missing people as 50 per cent of the booth committee members are not in touch.
During its verification drive that ends on June 15, the BJP party will conduct physical verification of every member of 13,789 polling stations in the national capital.
A senior Delhi BJP functionary told IANS that recently it has come to the notice of the state leadership that the party is unable to connect with nearly 50 per cent members of booth committees formed last year.
“Preparing for the April 2022 municipal elections, which are now postponed due to the amalgamation of the three corporations, the party has formed a 21-member committee at each polling station in Delhi. But recently, we failed to connect with them. Hence the leadership has decided to start the physical verification drive from May 1.
Three general secretaries of Delhi BJP Kuljit Singh Chahal, Harsh Malhotra and Dinesh Pratap Singh have been entrusted with the task of completing the physical verification of booth committee members across the city.
When asked about 50 per cent booth committee members missing, a Delhi BJP general secretary said the number is not 50 per cent, but yes the party is unable to connect with some of them. He said, “It is true that we could not reach many members of the booth committee formed last year. Now physical verification of all the members of the booth committee will be done.”
These three senior functionaries of the party’s Delhi unit will ensure physical verification of all the members of over 13,000 booth committees and ‘panna pramukhs’ (heads of a page of the voter list).
“Leaders will ensure and check physical verification of all the members of booth committees and panna pramukhs. They will also ensure the appointment of Panna Pramukh, where this has not been done. They will also create WhatsApp groups and connect all the members of the booth committee. A senior Delhi BJP leader said.
