Chennai suffered their sixth defeat of the season in the IPL on Monday night. Punjab beat Chennai Super Kings by 11 runs. After the defeat, Chennai captain Jadeja said that the reason for their defeat was not being able to score more runs in the powerplay while batting and giving 10-15 runs more in the last over while bowling.

After the match, Jadeja said, ‘I think we started the match with good bowling. We bowled the new ball in the right place. But in the last 2-3 overs, we allowed the opposition to score 10-15 runs more. Rayudu batted very well but as I said had we managed to stop him from 170-175 then the match would have been in our favour.

Where did you go wrong while chasing the target? In response to this question, Jadeja says, “We did not start well in the first 6 overs. In these 6 overs, we could not score more runs on the board. We need to make amends and we will come back strongly.

The thrill of the match was about to come

In this match, Chennai captain Jadeja won the toss and decided to bowl first. Punjab made a slow but strong start in batting. A 110-run partnership between Shikhar Dhawan (88) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa (42) put Punjab in a strong position as Mayank Agarwal (18) lost the first wicket for 37 runs. In the end, a short but explosive innings from Liam Livingstone (19) helped Punjab reach 187 runs.

Chasing the target of 188 runs, Chennai got off to a bad start. The team lost three wickets for 40 runs. Ambati Rayudu’s knock of 78 off 39 balls brought Chennai back in the match and brought them closer to victory, but as soon as he was dismissed, the team was left behind and could only manage 176 runs in the allotted 20 overs.
