Auraiya, 26 April (H.S.). To reduce maternal-child mortality, a campaign “Ek Kadam Safe Motherhood Towards” will be launched from May 1, i.e. on Sunday. Under the Maternal Health Program, special emphasis will be given on nutrition of women during pregnancy and postpartum.

Under the campaign, ASHA and Anganwadi workers will go door-to-door to identify and list pregnant and lactating women, so that they can be followed up on health. For the success of the campaign, orientation of district and block level officers was done in the Chief Medical Officer auditorium on Tuesday.

During this, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Archana Srivastava said that in the upcoming campaign which will run from May 1st to May 31st, work will be done to ensure availability of iron, calcium, albendazole, and folic acid and intake of medicines to every pregnant and lactating mother. Along with this, awareness will also be made about the prenatal check-ups and the consumption of pills at the time. Necessary medicines for maternal nutrition will be provided free of cost in the campaign.

Additional Chief Medical Officer (RCH) Dr. Shishir Puri informed that ‘Ek Kadam Safe Motherhood’ campaign will be conducted next month to reduce maternal-child mortality. Activities to be organized during the campaign through Chief Minister Jan Arogya Mela

Providing folic acid to all first trimester pregnancies.

To take information about the iron, folic acid, calcium tablets given earlier to all pregnant women of second and third trimester and to provide medicine for the next days.

Take the weight and height of all pregnant. For this, a weighing machine and tape should be used.

To assess the increase in weight by comparison with the weight taken in the previous antenatal check-up.

Examine the abdomen of all pregnant.

Identifying and referring women with high risk pregnancy (HRP) to medical units.

Follow-up of women with high risk pregnancy by ASHA, Anganwadi and ANM.
