Mumbai : After Serum Institute of India slashed the cost of CovaShield vaccine by more than half to Rs 225 for private hospitals, Bharat Biotech on Saturday cut the price of its vaccine Covaxin for private hospitals from Rs 1200 to Rs 225 per dose declare. Adar Poonawalla, CEO, Serum Institute of India, said that a day before the Covid vaccine booster shots are available for all Indian adults, the cost of Kovidshield in private hospitals has come down by more than half to Rs 225. This decision has been taken after discussion with the Centre.

“We are happy to announce that after discussions with the Central Government, SII has decided to increase the cost of COVISHIELD vaccine from Rs 600 to Rs 225 per dose for private hospitals. We once again appreciate the Centre’s decision to open up the precautionary regimen for all 18+,” he tweeted.

The Union Health Ministry on Friday said that the precautionary dose of the Kovid-19 vaccine will be available to all people above the age of 18 years at private immunization centers from April 10. The dose of precaution will be the same as for the first and second doses. just.

The ministry said people over the age of 18 who have completed nine months of taking the second dose will be eligible for the precautionary dose. Final guidelines on precautionary dosage for people above 18 years will be issued soon.

“It has been decided that precautionary doses of COVID vaccines will be provided to the population group above 18 at private immunization centres. This facility will be available at all private immunization centers.

SII CEO Adar Poonawalla welcomed the government’s move to allow precautionary doses to all people above the age of 18 years at private vaccination centres, saying it would further provide long-term protection against the virus and ease travel.
