Supreme Court Chief Justice NV Ramana has expressed displeasure over the tarnishing of the judges’ image. Supreme Court Chief Justice NV Ramana has said that now governments across the country have started maligning the image of judges. Efforts are being made to malign the image of the judge who does not like the verdict. This is being seen continuously. This is very unfortunate.

The Chief Justice made the remarks during the hearing of an appeal filed against Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Aman Singh. The Chhattisgarh High Court had quashed the investigation by the state’s Bhupesh Baghel government against Aman Singh and his wife.

Judges’ image gets tarnished if they don’t like the decision.
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court NV Ramana has termed the tarnishing of the judges’ image as extremely unfortunate. Aman Singh was the Chief Secretary in the previous Raman Singh government of Chhattisgarh. The High Court has questioned the intention of the state government to quash the investigation. The court observed that there has been an abuse of procedure in the entire case.


During the hearing of the appeal of the case in the Supreme Court, the plaintiff’s lawyer Sahiya Sharma reiterated his allegations against Aman. On this, the Chief Justice said that it is normal to make such allegations after the change of government. After this he said that now the governments have started defaming the judges. The next hearing of the case has been fixed for April 18.

On February 28, 2020, the Chhattisgarh High Court in an interim order directed that no coercive action be taken against Aman Singh and his wife. The High Court, in its order dated January 10, 2022, quashed the FIR holding that all the allegations against the petitioner were prima facie based on probability and no action could be taken against any person on the basis of probabilities.
