768-512-14972534-527-14972534-1649496552786Bangalore: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has moved the Supreme Court against the bail granted by the Karnataka High Court to Binish Kodiyeri, son of former CPI(M) Kerala state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, in a money laundering case.

The ED has argued before the court that “the massive amount of documents collected by the investigating officer clearly reveals that there are suspicious transactions under which large amounts were deposited, transferred and withdrawn”. It added that there is no “reasonable explanation” for transactions of more than Rs 6 crore in various banks such as IDBI, HDFC, SBI and Federal Bank and the same were not disclosed in the income tax returns.

Kodiyeri is being investigated for a money laundering case that came to light after a case was registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 for drug trafficking. Back in October 2021, the Karnataka HC had granted him bail.
