According to a Western Railway official, Western Railway has decided to add one Vistadome train to the Mumbai Central-Gandhinagar Shatabdi Express on an interim basis from April 11. Shatabdi Express is the second train of Western Railway to be equipped with Vistadome carriage, and the first train from Mumbai to have a panoramic view coach facility.

On Central Railway, Deccan Express on Mumbai-Pune route and some other trains originating from Mumbai are being run with Vistadome coaches. According to a release issued by Western Railway, the Vistadome coach, with large glass windows and a terrace for panoramic view, will provide an enhanced travel experience to the passengers.


Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway said that Shatabdi Express will be temporarily attached with a Vistadome coach from April 11 to May 10. “The Vistadome coach has large glass windows, glass roof, revolving seats and an observation lounge so that passengers can enjoy breathtaking views,” Thakur said.


He said that the coach has a seating capacity of 44 passengers and can be booked from April 9 at the PRS counter and IRCTC website. According to Western Railway officials, the fare of Vistadome coach will be known only after the train becomes available for booking.
