New Delhi : Five people were injured in a massive fire that broke out at three hardware shops in the national capital in the early hours of Saturday. An official gave this information.
A fire brigade official said that they received information about the fire at shop number 391-392 in Azad Market Shivaji Road near Pul Bangash metro station in North Delhi at 4.20 am, following which 19 fire tenders were immediately pressed into service.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said that he also received a call at the same time after which police personnel reached the spot and found that some small shops of paint, tripal, bag making etc. were burning and the main building where the fire broke out. She had collapsed.
“Incidentally, a cylinder explosion also occurred after a fire broke out in an adjacent welding shop, leaving five people with minor injuries,” Kalsi said. The condition of the injured is now stable.
The official confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident, however, there has certainly been massive property damage. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. As per the video recorded by the onlookers, a thick plume of black smoke as well as a massive fire could be seen rising out of the buildings. After four hours of hard work, the fire was brought under control at around 8 am.
Meanwhile, disaster management teams along with JCB are on the spot to clear the debris of the collapsed building.
Significantly, this incident comes two days after a fire broke out at New Delhi Railway Station in Delhi on Thursday. No casualties have been reported in the incident.
