After the yagya was over, Maharishi gave a bowl of kheer to the three wives of Dasharatha. A few months later the three queens became pregnant. King Dasharatha’s eldest queen Kaushalya gave birth to Rama, while Kaikeyi gave birth to Bharata, Sumitra gave birth to twins Lakshmana and Shatrughna. Rama was born on earth to kill Ravana.
