new Delhi: Expressing concern over the rising incidents of child marriages during Akshaya Tritiya, apex child rights body National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on Friday wrote to principal secretaries of all states and union territories, directing all . Under the practice of preventing child marriage, the district magistrates have to complete the awareness program before April 28.
NCPCR has received several reports which suggest that child marriage is taking place on 3rd May as this day is being celebrated as Akshaya Tritiya which is also known as Akti/Akha Teej.
The child rights body directed that under the awareness program at the gram panchayat, block, urban ward, district tehsil level, the child development project officer should organize a meeting with religious priests regarding the awareness program on child marriage.
Keeping in view the school dropouts, NCPCR has also asked for preparation of school-wise list where students are not attending classes regularly without informing the school principal or headmaster which is governed by Rule 2B According to (2). Labor (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Rules 2017.

The officers have been asked to submit the report of these activities in their district to the commission by April 21.
NCPCR will hold district-wide meetings with officials from April 21 to review the status of activities to be conducted online by the officials of each district of the states.
