PORT ELIZABETH, 8 April (H.S.). Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque confirmed that Tamim Iqbal is fit and available for the second and final Test against South Africa to be played in Port Elizabeth.

Tamim, who played his last match against Sri Lanka at Pallekele in April 2021 due to injury, was expected to feature in the first match of the series against South Africa in Durban as an opener, but due to a stomach problem, he Did not play in the first test match.

Mominul said before the second match, “Tamim bhai’s condition is much better now and we are hopeful that he will play in the next match.”

Mominul said that he is confident of ending the series with a good performance. He said that he is not thinking too much about the disappointing batting in the fourth innings in Durban and now his focus is on the second Test.

“Obviously we will play to win and try to play good cricket for 12-13 seasons, we don’t want to think too much about what happened in the first match,” Mominul said.

Regarding fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, who is out with a shoulder injury, he said, “We are yet to decide whether we will play with a fast bowler or a spinner instead of Taskin.” We will definitely miss Taskin as he has been doing well since his return to Test cricket.”
