DEHRADUN, 07 APRIL (H.C.). Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khandudi Bhushan will also participate in the 8th Conference of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region in Guwahati. More than 200 delegates including Speakers, Deputy Speakers, Leaders of Opposition, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members from all states will participate in the conference. The conference will be presided over by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

She will be on a four-day expatriate tour of Assam from April 9 to 12 at the International Level Executive Committee’s mid-year meeting of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) held in Guwahati for the first time.

It may be mentioned that for the first time in India, the Assam Legislative Assembly is hosting the CPA Mid-Year Executive Committee meeting on 9 and 10 April from the Indian side. The Executive Committee of the CPA consists of approximately 35 members headed by the Chairman of the CPA. It consists of three regional representatives from each region of the CPA other than Africa. On behalf of the region of India, the Legislative Assemblies of the State of Uttarakhand and Assam are the members of this Executive Committee.

The CPA Executive Committee meeting will be attended by members from Africa, Asia, Australia, British Iceland, Canada and the Caribbean, Americas and Atlantic region.

This time the Assam Legislative Assembly is also hosting the 8th Conference of the CPA India Region. The conference will be held on 11th and 12th April at the Guwahati Assembly Building.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) is an international community of approximately 180 Commonwealth Parliaments and Legislatures, who work together to deepen the Commonwealth’s commitment to the highest standards of democratic governance.

Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan will participate in the Executive Committee meeting and CPA India Region conference to be held in the Guwahati Assembly Complex. For this, she will leave for Guwahati from Delhi on 8th April. During this program, the Secretary of the Legislative Assembly Mukesh Singhal will also accompany him.
