Politics has heated up in Pakistan due to the political maneuvering of Imran Khan. The hearing of the whole matter is going on in the Supreme Court but no decision has been taken yet. Meanwhile, former ISI chief and foreign ministry officials have warned that Imran’s wrongdoing could be punished for years.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has accused the US of plotting to overthrow the Pakistani government, citing a diplomatic message sent by the Pakistani ambassador to save the chair. Not only this, the opposition’s no-confidence motion was also rejected citing conspiracy. Now the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan has feared for years that the punishment for the mistake will have to be faced. Not only this, after the secret diplomatic message of the Prime Minister became public, now the officials of the Ministry of External Affairs are also afraid to send any such message in future.

Talking to Pakistani media, two senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs said that the diplomats are not happy with the whole controversy. He said that the way Imran Khan has used secret messages to achieve his political objectives. Then the Ministry of External Affairs will have to bear that mistake for many years to come. The official said that the effect of Imran’s mistake will be that diplomats posted abroad will now be very careful in their assessment.

US will not forget Imran’s allegations: Former ISI chief

“Diplomats are the eyes and ears of Pakistan and give clear and honest feedback to the country in which they are stationed,” the Pakistani official said. On the basis of this feedback, the policy makers of the country make their policy towards that country. “If the government starts using secret messages for its diplomatic gains, diplomats will avoid writing their assessments honestly,” the official warned. Another official said the government has overreacted to the issue of diplomatic messages.

Meanwhile, Lt Gen Asad Durrani, former Director General of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), believes that the US cannot easily forget Imran Khan’s allegations. Durrani, circulating his post on the social media blog, wrote that Imran Khan has adopted the strategy of the late founder of the People’s Party, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He wrote, “Zulfikar Ali Bhutto used this card brilliantly in 1977, when the opposition rallied against him after election fraud.”

‘See the significance of the present Army Chief’s unusual statement’

The general further wrote, “Ever since IK (Imran Khan) took out a leaf from the book ZAB (Zulfikar Ali Bhutto), he has to remember that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was hanged. This species is known for its remarkable memory. Durrani urged people to “look at the significance of the unusual statement made by the present Army Chief”. “While General Qamar Bajwa’s stance on the Ukraine crisis was not in line with government policy, was it to raise voices of some conciliation to placate the Yankees; Disagree with Ike’s conspiracy thesis; Or was it a harbinger of bad news for his once-beloved prime minister?”
