Colombo : Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed an advisory group on debt stability, consisting of economic and financial experts. The President’s Media Department has given this information.

Members of the advisory group include Indrajit Kumaraswamy, former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Shantha Devarajan, former Chief Economist of the World Bank and Sharmini Kore, former Director of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Capacity Development Institute. Xinhua news agency reported.

The division said Wednesday night that members of the advisory group had already discussed maintaining regular communication with the IMF with the president.

Officials said the advisory group has been tasked with holding discussions with Sri Lankan officials involved in negotiations with the IMF and providing guidance on overcoming the current debt crisis.
