A group of juvenile thieves stole taps and sewer covers from around half a dozen houses in Lucknow’s Indira Nagar, leaving residents in a tizzy.

A local resident said, “Apparently, thieves entered the bathroom and removed the tap. However, they did not take anything else with them. We fail to understand the purpose behind such piracy.”

CCTV footage of the colony shows juvenile thieves breaking the boundary wall of a house to commit the crime.

The thieves also snatched sewer covers of some houses.

A police officer said that while sewer cover theft is common, this is the first time taps have been stolen.

“Most drug addicts steal sewer covers and sell them to junk dealers, but we do not understand the reason behind stealing taps,” he said.

Police Station In-charge (SHO), Indira Nagar, Ramphal Prajapati said that a complaint has been received and investigation is on.

He said, “We are identifying the accused and prima facie it appears that some addicts have committed theft. They will be caught soon.”
