Death of Hamas chief: Israeli spy agency Mossad tasked Iranian security agents to plant explosives at the house where Hamas political leader Ismail Haniya was staying in Tehran. According to the report, the plan was initially made to kill Haniya, who arrived in Tehran during the funeral of former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi during May.
The operation was cancelled after a large number of people gathered
According to reports, two Iranian officials said that the operation was postponed due to the gathering of a large number of people. Thus the timing of the operation was changed as the chances of success seemed low. Two agents working under the direction of Mossad planted explosive devices in three different rooms of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) guesthouse in northern Tehran. This decision was taken at the political level as Haniya was likely to be held here.
Haniya died due to an explosive blast
According to the report, surveillance footage in possession of an Iranian official shows agents moving around secretly. The footage shows agents entering several rooms and coming out after a few minutes. In which the agents leave Iran quietly after installing the upgrade. But their Sagittars were present in the country. Haniya died in the explosion of explosives kept in the room by the operatives at 2 am yesterday (August 2).
What did the IRGC officer say?
An IRGC official confirmed Haniya's death. Mossad had appointed agents to protect Ansar-al-Mahdi. These agents were entrusted with the responsibility of protecting leaders and officials inside and outside the country. An IRGC official said, 'Although this is an insult to Iran, there has been a security lapse somewhere. A special group has been formed to formulate a strategy regarding this.'
How does Mossad work?
Mossad is the second largest spy agency in the West after the CIA, with an annual budget of three million dollars and 7,000 employees. Mossad has many departments but not much is known about its internal structure.
